Take a minute to get to know Patrick Miller on our Specifications Team. Patrick has spent the last year in intensive training in valve dynamics and hydraulics, has worked with our Cla-Val Service Team, meets regularly with engineers to aid with valve design and selection, and is part of our control valve training team. Read on to find out a bit more about Patrick!
Q&A w/ Patrick Miller:
Where did you grow up?
Bonney Lake, WA
What are your hobbies outside of work?
During the Spring/Summertime, anything that can get me outdoors like longboarding, camping, or hiking. When it cools down, I enjoy playing Magic the Gathering and the occasional video game.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I couldn't make up my mind for the longest time, I switched from computer science to professional chef to overseas marketing. Now that I figured it out, I am working towards being an engineer.
What is your favorite thing about working for Cimco-GC Systems?
Traveling to different places and helping people learn about their water systems. I never thought I would like teaching as much as I do.
What's something throughout your career that people tend to come to you for your expertise?
I have always enjoyed math, so whenever anyone needs help with numbers, I'm their guy.
Best advice you ever received?
Whenever you're struggling look at where you came from, and whenever you are succeeding, look at where you are heading.
Lightning Round:
Do you have any nick names?
Somehow my friends came up with Top Honk in High School. The only explanation they gave me was because I like to wear hats.
Favorite movie:
Favorite movie of all time would be Spirited Away, but currently it is the 2 Dune movies. I haven't read the book yet but the world building is so unique and fascinating I can't wait to know what happens next.
Favorite food:
Any Italian food really, but to be more specific, stuffed manicotti.
Dream vacation destination:
The Scandinavian mountains. I would like to start in Sweden and end in Finland.
One thing you couldn’t live without:
My friends, they are my second family.
